I would HIGHLY recommend you check out the new customer portal accelerator.  The new accelerator is light-years ahead of the old accelerator in capabilities and coding practices.  The new accelerator replaces both this older eService and the events accelerator, has additional functionality, and is built upon the new xRM CMS portal framework that is included in the 4.0.0012 SDK. http://customerportal.codeplex.com
