Enterprise Search (BDC) -- Unable to Connect

I have taken the sample BDC XML file and modified it for our actual environment.  I changed the database name and server name and the URLs for the paths.  It imported correctly.

However, when I try to connect the webparts to the BDC I get the following error:

Unable to connect to Microsoft CRM

The user I am logged in as has access to the MSCRM database (is set as Administrator).  The App Pool account for SharePoint does not (in case that makes a difference).

Can someone give me direction here?

Little more info.  Turns out I had a typo in my database name and the file works if I am accessing SharePoint from IE when logged onto the SharePoint IIS box.  However, on a local user's desktop I still get the "Unable to connect to Microsoft CRM" message.
